Congratulatory Statement From NDP to MILF and GPH on The Signing of The Framework Agreement

Congratulatory Statement From National Development Party (NDP) Brunei Darussalam In Conjunction of The Signing of The Framework Agreement Between MILF and GPH On 15th October 2012 – Manila.

The National Development Party (NDP) of Brunei Darussalam under the leadership of its current President Sdr. Mahmud Morshidi Othman warmly congratulated the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GPH) for the success of signing the Framework Agreement that took place on 15th of October 2012 at Malacanang Palace, Manila, Philippines.

It is understood that, the said agreement will pave the way for the signing of a final agreement between the MILF and GPH before the end of President Aquino's term in 2016.

The final agreement basically aims at solving the century-old Mindanao problem through peaceful political solution.

This framework is just a beginning and there are still many challenges ahead to be faced in order to reach a lasting political settlement in Mindanao.

Hence, the NDP appeals all neighboring governments in the region particularly the Brunei government to continue and increase their active participation in making the peace process in Mindanao successful.

The continued participation in the peace process after the signing of Framework Agreement could be in the form of technical assistance and economic investment in Mindanao.

The NDP has heartfelt concerns about the security, political stability and economic development in the region. In our humble opinion, the success of the peace process in Mindanao will greatly contribute towards sustaining the regional peace and stability hence every nation in the region would directly or indirectly gain enormous dividends from the peace process. Thus, contributions and active participation in the peace process is a collective responsibility.

Finally, the leadership of NDP continuously prays for the people of Mindanao, particularly the Bangsamoro, so they may realize their generations-long dream of having lasting peace in their homeland.
